Faraklata Kefalonia
Faraklata is a small traditional Greek village approximately 4 miles northeast of Argostoli. Faraklata is passed by the road linking near Razata and Dilinata and an uneven road to Makriotika. The village sits on a mountain and is surrounded by areas of farmlands , it even features a small cave east of the area. Much of the population are rural and the main economy is based on agriculture.
It is reported that people of this area can foresee the sex of an unborn baby by looking at the belly button of the youngest family member, If it faces upwards then the baby will be a boy; if it faces downwards then it will be a girl.
The 1953 Ionian Earthquake destroyed every building in Faraklata and people of the village lost their lives. The entire inhabitants that time (as well as other parts of the island) were homeless, and some fled the village.
On March 25th, celebrations take place in the village, these are held in the Church of Evangelistria.
