Horgota is a small rocky beach which is set in the most tranquil and
picturesque setting. The beach lies beneath the traditional village of
Komitata. You have to negotiate mountain roads to reach this beach. The
track to the beach may only be suitable for a jeep or similar 4 wheel
drive car. It is very rough and uneven. This location is usually reached
via motor boat, which can be hired from most places.
Situated just across the water from the island of Ithaca, the views from
Horgota are fabulous. The beach is fringed with olive trees and greenery
can be seen all around. This beach was used in the Captain Corelli film.
It was referred to as Mandra,s beach. The jetty from the film is still in
place, however film buffs have removed planks as souvenirs |
