Ammes is situated in the south-west part of the island, in the area of
Svoronata, a couple of kilometers from the capital of Kefalonia. The beach
is only a few minutes from the island's airport and you may observe the
occasional low flying jet, but this district is peaceful and full of
vibrant vegetation.
Around this area there a couple of small similar beaches including Porto
Heli , Aghia. Pelagia, and Mina .
Ammes was the first beach of the area to be discovered by tourists some 20
years ago when the large hotel called the Irina was built. , next to the
airport The sand is notably more orange here than the bright white of some
beaches on the island. There is a slight wind here and the water remains
shallow for a long distance out to sea A great beach for families. You
will be able to purchase refreshments from the beach bar, or if you fancy
a meal at lunch time there are plenty of restaurants on the waterfront or
a little further away in the local village of Svoronata.
The beach is approximately 100 meters long and can get crowded in the
summer months especially August, although you should be able to find a
little piece of beach for yourself during other times.
Ammes beach is made up of sand with few big rocks and incased by small
dunes. There are loungers and sun shades to rent, or simply throw your
towel down! Easy access from the nearby coastal road which runs from
Svoronata to Ammes. Parking is allowed along beach top road.
