Skiathos

As you know we are booked for June, have been doing some internet investigation and came across this website!

I have found out that the runway length is 1570 mtrs where Kef is 2430 mtrs, it has the sea at both ends (or it appears too)
We are however looking forward to being tourists, which we have'nt been for a very long time, I feel a bit of de-ja-vou going on but what the hell I'm very red wine mellowed at the mo and hubs is watching the tv through his see through eye lids!
So anyhow, Skiathos os 46 sq mtr, Kef 688 sq mtr.
Now come on, can you see what I'm saying?
It's taken 13 years to see hardly anything of Kef so Skiathos is going to be a breeze ;D

I am sure the short runway will be fine as the sunnybanana people won't be taking much baggage?

I can tell you don't get out very much. Our back garden is about 688 sq metres. Did you mean sq kilometres? (sorry - couldn't resist)

BTW - will you be putting up a photo on the sunnybanana site??

The runway at Skiathos is brilliant, it's like landing on an aircraft carrier! As soon as the plane touches down the pilot has to do some severe braking........................as the rubber marks on the runway testifies! You are right that there is sea at each end of the runway, so there isn't much room for error!
There is also a road at the South end of the runway and they have recently put traffic lights at the end of the runway which turn to red when a plane takes off. The lights were put in after the larger jets started landing at Skiathos. Apparently the thrust from the engines of these planes on take off had blown several people off their feet, a few motorcyclists were blown over and even one of those 3 wheeler things was tipped over!

Here's a gorgeous beach Janey, backed by pinetrees, showers, toilets and beach tavernas all at hand. Koukanaries beach on Skiathos. Lovely soft sand and very safe swimming. The beach shelves very gently. 8-)

Banana beach is around the headland on the last photo. It's about a 20 minute walk.
