Thank you both. Looking forward to Anaxos 2012. Michele thought she saw you Cathy, sitting with your Husband about the 4th of July in the Greek Meze taverna in Lourdas at Lunchtime. She is a bit shy about saying hello.
Our last three holidays on Kefalonia have been very fraught. First one I had a phone call part way through the holiday to say my beloved Dog had lost a leg whilst staying with friends. The second holiday Michele had non stop calls from her solicitors, who told us not to go anywhere on the Island that did not have a mobile signal. I got so angry, we were on holiday to get away from it all, but the damn phone would go when we were on a boat trip, having lunch or lazing on a beach. This year was a special one as it was one of my big Birthdays, I did not get an 18th, 21st, 30th, 40th etc because of deaths or illness in the family. I had been very ill over the winter and was so happy to be here.
All I wanted was a nice meal, so I chose a little fish taverna I know. I talked with my other half before going and explained that we had to order several dishes and they would come out as they became ready.
Down we sat, dressed up for the evening. We looked at the menu and asked what was good. I started to order and had got as far as Tzatziki, Fresh sword fish and my other half stopped the order and said it may be too much food. The food arrived. A bowl of Tzatziki and two pieces of Fish. She of course had not listened when I had told her we had to order a number of dishes, she thought the fish would come with other things. So that was my Birthday, a bowl of Tzatziki and a piece of fish (M does not eat puddings). Birthday ruined but the view was nice.
Lesbos is a great Island and feels like going back in time to a Greece I remember as a Lad. The light is different to Kefalonia as the rock is dark but what a huge and impressive island, full of contrast and wildlife.
Probably some of the best food I have ever eaten. I am sure you will enjoy it Sue.
