Our last three holidays on Kefalonia have been very fraught. First one I had a phone call part way through the holiday to say my beloved Dog had lost a leg whilst staying with friends. The second holiday Michele had non stop calls from her solicitors, who told us not to go anywhere on the Island that did not have a mobile signal. I got so angry, we were on holiday to get away from it all, but the damn phone would go when we were on a boat trip, having lunch or lazing on a beach. This year was a special one as it was one of my big Birthdays, I did not get an 18th, 21st, 30th, 40th etc because of deaths or illness in the family. I had been very ill over the winter and was so happy to be here.
All I wanted was a nice meal, so I chose a little fish taverna I know. I talked with my other half before going and explained that we had to order several dishes and they would come out as they became ready.
Down we sat, dressed up for the evening. We looked at the menu and asked what was good. I started to order and had got as far as Tzatziki, Fresh sword fish and my other half stopped the order and said it may be too much food. The food arrived. A bowl of Tzatziki and two pieces of Fish. She of course had not listened when I had told her we had to order a number of dishes, she thought the fish would come with other things. So that was my Birthday, a bowl of Tzatziki and a piece of fish (M does not eat puddings). Birthday ruined but the view was nice.
Lesbos is a great Island and feels like going back in time to a Greece I remember as a Lad. The light is different to Kefalonia as the rock is dark but what a huge and impressive island, full of contrast and wildlife.
Probably some of the best food I have ever eaten. I am sure you will enjoy it Sue.
Yes, that would have been us in the Meze taverna! What a pity Michelle felt shy, I'd have loved to say Hi.
So sorry you've had grimness on your holidays, what a shame. Here's hoping Anaxos next year will buck the trend and it's a good one. x

Had a fabulous holiday in Anaxos, better than I hoped for. Sue you will love it, went to thermal springs at Eftalou ( got bus timetable from rep) but it was way too hot for me! Managed a couple of minutes but that was it, not easy to get in sea there either as really rocky. Still glad I went though for the experience. Our studios were just round corner from where you're going, called in there a few times it's really nice. We hired car for a few days and went to Skala Eressos (lovely beach), Skala Kalloni (gorgeous bay and really shallow), Skala Sikamena ( very picturesque fishing village)and Pedi (lovely little beach full of locals). Didn't have a bad meal anywhere but best by far was at Sarandos on main street, went there a few times. Climbed the 114 steps to the church on the rock in Petra and the views are worth it, also went to womens cooperative for a meal while we were in Petra - beautiful food. Molyvos at night was so lovely, had a meal on a balcony watching the sunset it was stunning. We walked up Anaxos Hill one evening to watch the sunset but just our luck it was cloudythat night! We had a few drinks so all was not lost! Steve's bar just up road from your place is fab, we called in there every night on our way for a meal and then on the way home, he's a lovely guy. Oh I wish Iwas going back with you!!

we had a great time in Anaxos as well so ggod booked for next year.
Did the hot springs in Eftalou twice and Malc even had a Massage. worth the money he felt great afterwards.
did a few days out and about some fantastic Monastaries and some very high up on top of Rock.
we did Molyvous by day and night watching sun set. Petra womens co-operative food was so good and cheap also did steps up to church and oh what views.
Skala Skemenia had lunch and such a chilling place to sit abit like Assos. Sigri beach was so quiet till the locals arrived on the Sunday and Taverna was full at lunchtime. went up to the Village of Agiaeos and the cobbled streets up and around to the church inat the top also a little church called the living waters. In the village shops selling local produce and Walnut furniture it was so beautiful fell in love with a bed but no way would it fit in my case. did the BEACH A T sKALA eEressos and the tvernas all on stilts on the beach front. We hired a car from Costas and Allison it even had a guiode with suggestions where to go.ate alot at there Restaraunt great Meze and fresh farm food. WE visited Steves bar most nights but couldnt cope with hangovers is wine came in 1/2 pint glasses, and spent couple nights watching the tree Rat eating the nuts of the tree. Plaza Palace did a Greek night very reasonable priced and it was again 1 of best we have ever ben to food was good and the dancers .
