    Default Lesbos

Has anyone been to Lesbos, we have booked to go here in August 2009. We are staying in Petra, if anyone has any useful info it would be appreciated. Can't see on here that anyone has posted about Lesbos before, so will do a review when we return! Long time off yet unfortunately.

    Hello big H,
Petra is a small but growing resort with a lovelly church perched on top of a rock lots of steps . also walk south along the sea shore path to Anaxos nice sea side village nice tavernas stop off at the one nearest the underside of anaxos hill and say hello to yorgos and angela nice people. north of petra is molyvos if you are driving be careful as you round the bend because the view will almost certainly distract you . if you need any info just give us a shout .regards Greec Monkey

Thanks for that, will take note of what you have said and nearer the time may contact you for any further tips. How does it compare to Kef?

    Talking

We stayed in Anaxos this year for the first time, and walked into Petra some evenings (only took about 15 mins) Petra has loads of places to eat and the area below the rock is a good to explore. Don't miss the Womens co-operative for food and great views. The village of Petri above and behind Petra has some romantic tavernas with magical views across the bay. The Avlaki taverna between Anaxos and Petra has some great food too and is on a little beach.

Anaxos has a lovely beach, and lots of Tavernas along it, the next bay over the headland from Anaxos is called Ambelia, it has a terrapin pool on the beach and another Amazing little taverna called Taverna George.
Sunday Lunchtime you will often find a number of donkeys parked outside and many locals eating. Foti the islands famous musician often plays there on Sunday lunchtimes too.

You will love Molyvos, it is a real gem.

Thank's for looking. I find Lesvos not as beautiful as Kef but it has charm and the people are warm and welcoming. The island is big, so we only had two longer trips as we did not want to spend the whole holiday in the car as it was my partners main Holiday. The area at the top of the island I Think is the most beautiful with lots of unspoilt villages inland.
