We stayed in Anaxos this year for the first time, and walked into Petra some evenings (only took about 15 mins) Petra has loads of places to eat and the area below the rock is a good to explore. Don't miss the Womens co-operative for food and great views. The village of Petri above and behind Petra has some romantic tavernas with magical views across the bay. The Avlaki taverna between Anaxos and Petra has some great food too and is on a little beach.
Anaxos has a lovely beach, and lots of Tavernas along it, the next bay over the headland from Anaxos is called Ambelia, it has a terrapin pool on the beach and another Amazing little taverna called Taverna George.
Sunday Lunchtime you will often find a number of donkeys parked outside and many locals eating. Foti the islands famous musician often plays there on Sunday lunchtimes too.
You will love Molyvos, it is a real gem.
