Skiathos

It's funny, the longer we talk about the holiday we find ourselves saying, it wasn't that bad, room excepted.
We did eat at some nice places and enjoyed our walks.
As everyone knows we aren't good tourists and tend to have a quick look around then back to the sun bed by the pool with a book or 10.
In hubbys case is was more quick look around, back to the bar to watch cricket, mototr racing, football and any other sport he could find.
I will be warning wives/girlfriends not to stay in the vincinity of Villa Papas as most bars have sky sports ;D
The nice thing though, as the bar was next to the pool, it didn't bother me, he was happy.

Glad you are starting to remember the good bits Janey - room sounded bad though! We were determined not to let our 'episode' spoil our hols. Unfortunately the other lady and gent were totally put off Kefalonia by it and vowed never to return and couldn't wait to get out of the place. I tried to talk them around but they had their minds made up. I really hope they enjoy their second week there and that it changes their mind. Unfortunately though, as they lost their holiday savings they can't afford to hire a car or do any trips so I imagine Sami and the Pericles for a fortnight will not thrill them too much.

We have been to Skiathos and we really liked it there, our second favourite Island next to Kefalonia. Â*You should still go as not everyone likes the same thing. Â*I can fully understand how Janey feels, I would have hated to have put up with what she experienced and it would have more than likely put me off going again. Â*As I have said Kefalonia is my favourite Island to date and we will be returning again next year with all the family. Â*We went there two years on the trot and personally for me I wanted to see other Islands before settling on returning year after year to the same Island when there are lots of other places to see (just my personal opinion). Â*We flew from Birmingham to Skiathos and we had direct flights there and back, but our friends who flew from Manchester and Gatwick had to stop to refuel on the way back, think it is more to do with the size of plane you are travelling on though.

Janey really sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy your holiday in Skiathos

Thanks Jan, ive only ever been to one greek island which was obviously Kef, which I loved, but skiathos does sound quite nice, I wasnt sure whether it actually had an airport or not, and wondered if you arrived by boat :-[

Yes Skiathos does have an airport. Â*A lot of people think the landing there is very scary as the runway is very short. Â*Here is a couple of short vids of the landing, dont let it put you off .....lol

I love skiathos. I stayed there with Jamie several years ago and our accomodation was poor. however, as a group of 3 lads out for a "chillout week" it didn't matter.
I know staying in a lousy room can destroy your liking for a place altogether. This has happened to me several times and you just have to sit back and look at the bigger picture. After all there is an awful lot more accommodation on offer. I have been to Skiathos on two other occasions and love it.....................i'll be back! 8-)

This is a view from the La Luna in Troulos where we stayed last year. It's a superb place and the rooms are practically hotel standard.
Worth considering if you are tempted to give it another try Janey.

I have seen quite a few nice places since we got back, you never know.
Although the rest of this year nad next year are taken care of, not booked but we know where we are going.

Skiathos is gorgeous ! My daughter's favourite island. Will try and get some pics on the site here for you to see.
