What a stunning setting!
That brings back memories of my first trip to Greece back in 1990. We went to Crete and one evening we went on a trip to a Cretan evening in a village called Axos.
The taverna was at the very top of a hill and we had to walk through the village to get to it as the coach couldn't negotiate the roads.
There was a wedding taking place in the village at the time we were walking through. The wedding party were all dancing in front of the church and every house in the street had tables outside laden with food and drink.
Everyone was insisting we had a drink and something to eat. I was nearly drunk by the time i reached the taverna!
What a fabulous evening that was, and the memories of the welcome we received that evening will always stay with me.![]()
I'm sat here snivelling ... ahhh what a lovely video ... perfect .. takes me back to Santorini last year and the village of Oia. Totally stunning.
Let me go and snivel some more ...
Flew over the island at sun set one time out and what a smashing memory i have of that.

one day my dream will be reality(living on kefalonia.)
We decided last year that we could only afford a week .. and Santorini has neem on my "wish list" for years.
When I get my head together I'' tll you more ...
I have to admit that Santorini has long been on my list of places to visit. However, i have heard very mixed reports about the place.
Some people love it and go back year after year while other people say that a week is long enough and after that the place is boring!
Now personally, to me that means the island is quite peaceful with no nightclubs on every corner. If that is so (although i doubt that there are none on such a cosmopolitan island), i reckon that i could easily spend a couple of weeks relaxing here!
Given that it looks like it is going to be 2010 at the earliest before we see flights to Kefalonia and Skiathos reinstated at Newcastle and we will have to continue traveling to Manchester, i might well pay Santorini a visit in the very near future.............![]()
