Just spent 10 days close to Sami.
Sami is hardly worth visiting during the day unless you need supermarket provisions or items from some good shops such as the meat market or a really good spice shop.
However, the main road next to the sea closes at approx 8.00pm and it really starts to bustle. It becomes unrecognisable from the boring day time town in to a really pleasant "must see" place with 1km or so of shops and bars. There are plenty of restuarants which you'd walk past and ignore during the day.
The potatoes in the Mermaid taverna towards the main port are to die for.
