Sami
I have only visited Sami and never stayed there but to me the best part of the town has to be the harbour area. With stunning view over to Ithaca and up the coast this is a perfect chill out place. Lots of tavernas line the harbour and a few hour can easily be spent here watching the ferries come and go. Easy excursions from here include Mellisani lake and Drogarati cave, must sees for any first time visitor. Avisit to Antisamos beach is a must too. Take the road up past the church and turn left.Just keep driving until you reach the beach. the view is spectacular as you round the headland. Take a camera! 8-)

Re: Sami
Yeh i agree, sami has got a beutiful harbourside. Misses and myself had coffee every morning down there, and sat and watched the world go by.
You can go horse riding right up into the hills as well, if you wanted to you could spend an evening or two in the town, with it's resturants and local bars.
( very magical time )

Re: Sami
Hi Tonker, welcome to the site. We always spend a couple of hours in Sami whenever we are in Kefalonia and have often thought it would be a nice place to spend an evening. Trouble is my wife won't drive abroad and the thought of me driving back down to Poros after a few Mythos on board sadly kicks the idea into touch!

Re: Sami
Had a great time in Sami last year
Took the local bus there and had a great time walking around the town.
It was a wee bit quiet but we were there at the end of the season.
Nice folk;made us very welcome whereever we went.
And good food too.
'fraid I cannot remember where we ate; but we ate twice and both were spot on and we'll be going back there next month

Re: Sami
Last time we were in Sami we went into the photography shop just past the Kastro hotel, it's the one with the pics of Corelli's Mandolin hanging outside. After talking to the owner we found out he was the official stills photographer employed by the film company. Most of the photo's you see in magazines, etc were taken by him. If your a fan of the film next time your in Sami call in he's a really nice guy, and you can buy prints of the stills there's hundreds to look through.

In August, we're staying outside Sami near a village called Poulata. We're expecting a quiet holiday but just wondering if there are any bars or restaurants in the village at all.
Is anyone familiar with it.
