We always go to Sami for lunch at least once during our holiday, love sitting on the harbourside.
Can't remember the name of the one we use but it has got a very pleasant blond waitress, I think she may have an Amercan accent, lovely girl, lovely food, clean toilets!

Tereza's Pizza
Not a massive menu but great place for a light lunch looking out towards Ithaca watching the boats go in and out.
The lady owner is English, moved out to Kefalonia in the eighties and married a local, very friendly and according to my daughter does one of the best baguettes on the island !!!! [smiley=045.gif] [smiley=045.gif] [smiley=045.gif]

For the best gyros try TAKA TAKA MAM in Sami.
It's on the harbour front with the kitchen etc on the other side of the road, like they do!

The owner is lovely and has an excellent way when he corrected my early mispronunciations :

There's also a really good bakery close to Captain Correlli's *restaurant* which does a fine potato pie.
Being a Wiganer, I have to try every kind of pie ;D

Don't recommend Captain Correlli's, it was quite expensive and the service was s**t.

We always have a snack or lunch in Sami and Ag Efimia - but I can never remember the names of the tavernas. I am usually to absorbed in soaking up the ambience. The harbour front at both places just gets to you somehow......

Next month I will make a point of looking out for Janey's blonde waitress; Kefallon's Terez's Pizza and Lorainne's Taka Taka Mam .............................

Somehow, I think it might be Janey's blonde that I might remember to look out for?

Taka Taka Mam? Anyone remember that Quantum leap song "lone ranger" from late 70's /early 80's? Sounds a bit like the intro to the song! ;D ;D
Speaking of Sami, one place we went to was a taverna / bar opposite the Kastro hotel. We stopped off there i think perely because we had read that the front of this place had been totally "made over" for the film. The dragon and me were not given menus and asked for 2 fresh orange juices. When we got them it was obvious that they were anything but fresh. When i came to pay i was charged 9 euros!! That was back in 2001! Kefallon, your moths would have fainted with shock!I now steer well clear of that place when i visit Sami and that is the worst experience i have had in Sami or on Kef. I can't help wondering if thats where HG did his training! ;D
Everywhere else i have eaten in Sami has been a great experience. I just need to rack my brains and think of the names! 8-)

Whenever we're in Sami we go to the RIVIERA, this is on the front on the right hand side as you look out to sea. In the morning try the breakfast with warm bread buns and for lunch the spagetti carbonara is really good. The toilets are spotless and the staff very friendly.

will make a note of the name as we generally end up in Teresas on the waterfront, so a change is in order.
