The water in that pool looks almost illeagally low!

It shouldn't be more tha 4 inches from surround to water level. Sorry to be picky!

Thanks for trying on my anorak guys. You have stretched it back into shape after I foolishly shrunk it on a 60 degree wash.

Jed was correct in bringing our attention to the water level in the pool. It is so low that the water won't be getting filtered and treated. Compare the water level with the outlet ducts.

It was higher than that before I jumped in! Â* ;D

To be honest I did think that when I saw it and said something about it to Rick at the time. Â*He thought it was about 4 inches, but then you know what men are like with their measurements ... especially when it comes to inches! Â* [smiley=rofl.gif]

I didnt know that there was a legal requirement regarding inches, let me get this right - so legally you have to have no more than 4 inches? Why is this? Is it to make it easier to slip in? :-/

    LOL Michelle
I thought men were supposed to exaggerate size - not be modest!!

You can see the *tide mark* where the water level should be - that look about 4 ins from the top. If the level is 4 ins or less it makes it easier to get out if you fall in!

Is there ever a bad 8.75 inches??

Maybe that tide mark was where the water was when michelle got in, so it rose by 4.75 inches and when got out, it lowered again, what is that about weight and water displacement?? (that's why the sea always rises by a foot around the world when i jump in)

LOL! This made us laugh because every time (without exception) when we were on beaches on holiday, the sea was still as a duck pond and within seconds of me getting in there were waves bashing us about! I said to Rick after the first few times that it was definately the effects of displacement every time I got in. After that, every time it happened we just looked at each other and said "Displacement". Once it happened in Poros and I only put my feet in!!

Guess I'd better get on that diet and start visiting the gym again! :-/

Hi, am in Lixouri at the moment and I agree that Niforos Studios is the ideal place for a romantic holiday. I've been visiting Lixouri for the past 7 years now and I believe that this is the best spot in the whole area of Lixouri. It's got a spectacular view over the Ionian sea, the garden is well kept and you're really away from all the hustle and the bustle. Petani beach is only 2 minutes away by car and the town of Lixouri is about 15 minutes by car and the road is good.
The rooms however need a little maintenance (well, at least the one we were in). The bathroom seemed a bit rusty and our room on the ground floor had a musty smell. I guess they really can't do anything about that, but if they had opened the room before we arrived to let some fresh air in, maybe it would have been less intense. Fact is, the musty smell was still there the next morning when we woke up.
Sheets for one of the beds were missing and we had to ask for them 3 times. A truck had brought freshly dry-cleaned sheets and they were dumped in the driveway (packaged of course) for a few hours. The 1st time we asked for the sheets was when we checked in and saw they were missing, the 2nd time was at 11pm and the 3rd time was at midnight when we really needed to sleep after a whole day's travel from Athens to Lixouri. The same applied for the towels. We only had a set of towels for one person. In the end, around midnight, the daughter of the owner brought only one sheet and two towels and didn't apologize at all.
There is no mobile connection there, so if you really want to get away from it all, this is the place. They could have placed fixed telephony in the rooms.
Lightning had struck the TV antenna several months ago and the TV has only a couple of channels. They haven't got round to fixing that, but they have TV in the restaurant (personally, I think they should have fixed the cable after so many months).
The pool was filthy, a lot of dirt on the pool floor and the water level was very low. At night, when the restaurant was full and busy, some children were sticking their feet in the pool with their sneakers on. No one seemed to care.
I was eyeing this place for a few years, but didn't get round to booking our accommodation there, because our son was too young and we usually opted for studios on a beach for easy access.
We were really looking forward to staying at Niforos and were very disappointed it turned out this way.
We checked out the next morning, much to the owner's wife frustration, and found another place to stay inside Lixouri. We didn't want to be rude and said we needed access to telephone communication, but she became rather defensive, so we ended up telling her what we thought about their service. It's a pity, because it's really situated on a beautiful location. The owner is very pleasant and helpful, but he's rather busy, so visitors end up dealing with the wife and daughter and our impression of their hospitality is not good at all and really doesn’t represent the hospitality of the locals in Lixouri.

Anyway... hope they improve their service. Such a lovely place to go to waste.

Not sure what went wrong with this place but when we visited in September 2008 after our visit in June/July 2008 it looked practically derelict. We were amazed at the change in just a few short months. When we were there in June the owner did say that they are usually only busy in July/August and very quiet either side. Maybe our impression was based on the early season emptiness of the place, I don't know. We didn't stay there either just spent a very nice afternoon/evening and had a good nose around. Sometimes places can be fine for popping in but not good for staying in. As we found when we popped into a place in Agia Efimia and were very impressed, so much so that we went back for a couple of days stay and got out of there almost as quick as we'd gone in! Almost as if front of house is the shop window but when you go in there is not much to write home about! I doubt I'd ever stay there now but would definately visit for the sunset spectacular - glad you agreed that the location is amazing - shame it has not lived upto expectations but glad you had a good holiday eventually.

It's surprising how people's views and experiences differ as the wife of the owner was fabulous each time we met her. Not blaming you for this by any means, as we have had similar experiences where we have been disappointed by a hotelier or whatever and others have nothing but rave reviews of them and I feel that we are pretty much 'the same' wherever we go . I guess it is much like the holiday experience as a whole, no two people will always have the same expectations and experience. People are people at the end of the day and have different moods, stresses etc. As long as you enjoyed the rest of your holiday that's all that matters I guess, but it is not good when you have a bad experience, believe me I know that first hand.
