Default Holiday cash - exchange rates

I exchanged a small amount of sterling for euros today. I was very surprised at the wide range of quotes on the High Street. I usually find that our local Thomas Cook travel agency is the most competetive. They quoted €1.14, but 2 minutes on their website to place an order resulted in a rate of €1.173 ........ and I collected it 30 minutes later from the same shop.

It is certainly worth shopping around and spending a few minutes on the internet. Our local Post Office quoted a measly €1.11.

Before anyone asks, we aren't going to Kef on Wednesday, but (clue) the better rate will pay for a few sangrias and some tapas.

    Hi Sue
We are off to Fuerteventura for 7 days ...... We have never been to the Canaries before but hoping to get a bit of sun for a couple of family celebrations!

Regarding Kef, I think you know me too well!! - I badly missed our October *fix* .......... if miss our May *fix* too I'll probably need counselling......... hopefully I'll find some good flights to Kef for May which will work out cheaper than a SAD lamp and a few sessions of counselling.

Thanks Bell. Monica sends here love and thanks.
We had a great family week in Fuerteventura. It definately wasn't like Kef - but we needed some January sunshine!!!
