Door to door canvassers
Am i alone in this or has anyone else noticed an increase in canvassers knocking on your door and asking you to sign up to make regular donations to certain charities?
I have had several in the last couple of weeks. RSPCA, NSPCC and another asking for donations for children in Africa! I don't know about you, but whilst i appreciate that charities are suffering because of the recession (just like the rest of us!), i really get annoyed at this new practice of door to door canvassing. I feel it is gross invasion of privacy.
I give weekly and monthly donations to charities through my wages and donationd from my bank. These are charities which i decided to support and i did not have anyone putting me under "pressure" to do so.
A lot of people will probably feel pressurised to sign up to these charities but i sent them packing. I think they should be stopped!

what I find even worse than door to door is being sent cards and address stickers and asked to send a donation for these items .
British red cross sent me these plus gift tags all advertising them.
Feel awful not sending them anything but like you John already give to several charities. Is it a ploy to make you feel guilty and send them cash and then they ask for more.
1 local charity I have a lottery number each week but pay annual fee and they keep sending me raffle tickets now they come printed with my name on.
Sometimes I dont think they realise some people suport more than 1 charity.

We never open the door if we don't know who is there. Also you can get stickers that say no junk mail free papares and we do not buy at the door. We are actually in designated areab with stickers issued by the police that says we do not buy at the door. Like yoursleves we already support charities of our choice.
