Beautiful Assos!

I spent a couple of days in Assos with some friends and family. Here are a few photos from this very special part of the island.

Great pics Chris, spent some lovely times there over the years. In '95 we drove a Fiat panda up the dirt road to the fort/ monestery at the top. The EU paid to have it tarmaced and you can't drive up now. We always ate at the little restaurant next to the boat runway on the harbour front, there are loads of different sized fish scavaging around. In 2006, your bottom pic, exactly where that group are standing, we had the misfortune to see a rather overly sized woman fall down the broken road drain that runs across the road there. Also the singer 'Sting' is a frequent visitor to the island and has been seen on a number of occasions in the bay there. I think I have pic of his yacht there, it is an old timber schooner type. Truely beautiful scenery.

Nice pics Chris. Did you get to walk up to the fort?

We did it this year (my son did it twice) and I thought the road with its granite pavoirs and look out points was a huge improvement on what it used to be. I'd love to know how many were laid on the route up to the fort.

Assos does tend to attract the rich and famous (both Bill and I are regular visitors!), my son and I had a conversation with Johnny Depp a few years ago, he was on a massive Kawasaki motorbike parked outside Platanos.

Thanks Jed. It was too hot to walk up to the port! We still have 35 degrees so I'll wait for the weather to cool down a little before going back
