    Default Lara and Libra closed?

    Hi all.
Is it true that the Lara Hotel and the Libra Grill and Bar in Lourdata are closed this year?
I had a friend that has just returned and told me they were not opening this season.
Very sad if true. A second question, does anyone know where we can do currency exchange without walking up to Vlachata if the Lara is closed? We normally use it if we are staying near the beach. Lourdas must be going to be quieter this year if the rumour is true.

Hi, yes it is (very sadly) true.
Friends of ours are there now and said that Libra shut on 1st May and Liz and Jeff have got cleaning jobs somewhere.
The Lara apparently was offered only tiny amounts of money per room from TUI and Thomas Cook, so are letting rooms direct to Italians and Greeks from the 1st of June.
There is now a yawning gap from the beach, all the way to Muses, before you can stop for a drink.
I'm so sorry for the people involved. It's so hard to earn a living nowadays. Hope things improve soon.

That is sad, Jeff and Liz must be very upset. I will have to call in at Triffili then Thornton's place in Lourdata for a rest and a drink during the day. There will only be Trifilli between the beach and Muses in the evenings though.
I am still very excited about our next visit, roll on June,

That is sad news for anyone staying in LOurdas. And the tour companies are trying to convince us that bookings are up this year!!!

You will have to call at the kafenion opposite the Libra for liquid refreshment on the hill? ....... or join us down in Katelios, where I hope (fingers crossed) there will be more bars and tavernas open. Has anyone any up to date news about what IS open in Lourdas and Katelios?

You can always stop at Dyionnisis on the way up. And don't forget to call in at the Ionian Sun and say hello.

Thanks Phil, the Kafeneion is run by a Welshman called Thornton and his lovely Wife. Her Family owns the building I believe.
We will definitely call into the Ionian Sun. My partners son and his girlfriend stayed there last year and loved it.
We are staying with Gerry at the Villa Mare this year.

I forgot to mention that you can also stop in at Adonis cafe and snack bar which is up the hill a little bit past Libra and on the left hand side.

Is the Adonis slightly along a small road on the left Bell? We have passed it over the years I think but it always appeared closed. This was in the morning so may have been a little early, we have never looked in the evenings.
Have wanted to try it for years as it seems in a great position. Do the locals use it?
    Thank you for the tips.

Yes that's the one. The locals use it all the time and Adonis keeps it spotless. He used to have a bar in New York. He had all the world cup matches on there last year.

Olympic Holidays are taking bookings for the Lara again! £358.62 for a week departing Manchester on the 5th of July.
Glad the hotel is again open for the Brits. Another watering hole for the walk up the hill.
