Lourdas today

We had the worst storm so far last night. Part of the mountain above Simotata ,where the big fire was,slipped down onto the village and just missed my friend's house. The villagers were up all night clearing the mud and debris from the road. Will try to get a photo later. If you stand at the front in Lourdas I've been told that you can see where the hole is in the mountain. It must have been very scary!!!!!

the storms seem early this year

I drove past early this morning and managed to get some photos, some are already on GGI and will post them here later, the slip appears to start way above Simotata and not where the most recent fires where, possibly an old fire site.

I have also put some video of the spectacular lightning last night on FB for those who can access my page.

Just a few photos of the landslip above Simotata, you can see from one photo that it appears to have started way above the village and not near one of the more recent fires.

The rain over the past week or so has been torrential!!!

And I thought the weather might clear up after we left .............. How wrong can one be!

Took these photos today. There are three areas of landslides on the main road. The worst seems to be by Lorraine's Apartments. The first one just outside Vlachata is just some mud on the road but the other two are still being cleared by diggers so it is very hairy driving through Simoatata at the moment. Oops sorry took these with my camera and they need to be resized. Will post them later.

Had really bad rain again tonight. Think there might be more landslides.These photos are of an old water course which because of the rain has started to slip. I think that it looks bigger tonight.
