    Default Day trips to Zante

We have been going to Kef for many years but have never taken the ferry to Zante. I am determined to do it next month ........... but I won't be surprised if the Pessada ferry has stopped running before mid October.

Has anyone any recommendations? I notice this year that Avalon in Skala are doing coach trips there. Has anyone tried them? ....... or gone over independently?

    All replies appreciated.

    Hi Phil

We have thought about doing the trip to Zante from Kefalonia as we have done the other trips, 3 islands trip and Ithaka, but have heard mixed reviews on this one. If you find anything out before we go to on Sunday would be interested to hear

Thanks for your replies. I'll have to see what is running when we get there. Frequently when we go in May and October the ferry and Captain Vangelis aren't running. Does Vangelis go to the Blue Caves and Shipwreck Cove on his Zante trip>

    Cheers

Yes, I think he does Phil.

He certainly has the pictures on the board outside his accomodation on the coast road.

We did the trip to Zante with Vangelis last time we were on Kefalonia. He did shipwreck cove (it was an experience swimming ashore as the swell was just starting to get up!) and he went past the blue caves too. We were very lucky and saw a Monk seal too but it had gone into the water by the time i got my camera ready! We had a couple of hours in Alyknes (probably wrong spelling) which was a laid back resort although rapidly developing and had great views back over to Kefalonia.
It was an excellent day out and i would certainly reccommend it.

    Hi all

Not been on here for a little while after my trip to Lourdas in May which I loved. Def give Zante a go it's a great island (regular there be off there again in 10 days but who's counting) The ferry comes into Agios Nickolaos at the top end of the island ( a small fishing village and port with a few shops and tavernas) but as with Pessada is away from everything else so if not going by coach, transport is essential The place John is refering to will be Alykes and Alykanas twin resorts about 1 mile apart ( where I stay) you have views back to Kef and Lourdas ( much as I was looking from Lourdas to Zante and Alykes/Alykanas) Did the reverse trip last year Zante to Kef , thats why I ended up going in May.
    Have a good time

If you drive to Zakynthos in a hire car you are not insured as soon as you get on the ferry.

    Bell,

That depends on the hire company - with Neptune Rentacar you are covered as long as you have pre-arranged it with them.

Other companies I am not sure about.
