    Thanks Dafydd
Cheers for taking the trouble to seek it out, counting the weeks now really looking forward to going, had a look at suggestion for car hire but wanted to book and pay before we went, in the end went with Elephant carhire .co.uk who have booked with Autounion in Kefalonia I am a bit miffed though as the have only taken a deposit and I pay the balance to rental company upon arrival (plus what else they try to add on) gone for the 2 week hire as we want to make the most of it while we are there, I have been looking on the net for a decent road map for the island but think it might be better going to a book shop as you dont get to see what you are buying, anyway any more info about places to see would be well received.

    Thanks

    Have a look at
    http://www.insurance4carhire.com/ind...D=1665&curID=1
and compare that to the additional daily charge to top up to FCDW.

The best map of Kef is the Airplanes edition. You shouldn't have too much difficulty buying a copy in Lourdas for €2.50

I have found autounion, Kefalonia on the net. Their prices appear to be rather high.

Also the collision damage waiver has an excess of €500.00 and there is a long list of exclusions in the terms and conditions.

I think it is better for visitors to Kefalonia to go to a local, established car-hire company where the price can be negotiated and the terms & conditions are less onerous.

There are a number of companies in Kefalonia who have been around for many years.

    Hi Sue
we must be on the same flight, it's a small world,I take it it's not your first time then? we booked with Thompson we would normally go independant, as I take it you have? we got a good deal but wanted to try and find some local info so I joined the forum and people on here have been really helpful,we had a nightmare over booking a car we went through a company called cartrawler and our fist booking was cancelled as they had booked the wrong type of vehicle, they have now rebooked with Hertz,I was advised to go local by previous posts but went against that advice(live and learn) just had a look where you are staying on Bells previous post it looks really nice, not quite sure what the place we are staying at looks like(apart from 1 photo on the brochure) but its had some positive reviews so fingers crossed.
