    Question Captain Corelli's mandoline

Just going through some old photos and could not believe it was a decade ago that CCM was filmed in Kefalonia or i was at the cinema watching Sami , i mean Argostoli getting blown up! It did make me laugh knowing where all the places were and seeing how they linked them up in the film.

But wat sruvives from the film or props. a decade on. Sure i remember the other year seeing a tank/lorry just off the Sami to Poros road.

Anyone spotted something else or got any piccies related to CCM???

Hmm, i think that just about the only thing that survives on the island from the film is the jetty down at Horgota. I remember the lorry on the Sami - Poros road, in fact there were several vehicles and a statue from the film stored there. They are gone now and that site has been re-developed

How funny, I watched Captain Corelli's Mandoline last night, haven't seen it since it first came out. There is a tank or truck (most likely from the film) near Agia Efimia. It was on a dirt track near where I stayed, I will try and take a picture in September.

I was in Kefalonia when they were filming and saw the posters asking for extras but decided to stay out of the way. With my blue eyes I am sure that I would have ended up in a nazi uniform!

I saw the film in the Theatre in Argostoli and what was most interesting were the whispered comments around me in the audience - all Greeks.

yes i was on the island just after the film came out doing the Corelli tour, the doctors house on the road to anti-samos was still clearly visible and the road rdge past the kafenion. Sami was still full of captain corelli signs.
I always chuckle when i am going sown the Arginia side of Einos because when the crew had some time off they descended that road and at one point had to use reverse gear to control the descent. there normal day most have been adventurous enough as they were based in Argostoli originally travelling across to sami daily at the end of winter and i for one know that road is dodgy after a downpour having done a 360 there once!!!!

The jetty down at Horgota, has almost just about rusted away now, there are no boards on it.

It's still a lovely spot to sit and relax thou.

And of course Agia Sofia is just around the corner, we were there in may, on just about the only day the sun broke thru the clouds..

Still had a great time thou.

We went to kef the year CC was filmed and sat next to the make up director on the way back, she told us plenty of funny storys about the filming.

I will try and add some pics for you.

Pic's are to big to upload PM me and I will email them to you..

That's interesting Ian, The people who seemed to be living i the prefabs that went up behind the beach seemed to be looking after the jetty. I know they started putting the boards back on it...............although they weren't particular about keeping them cut to size! The houses really detroyed the feel of Horgota to me, especially when the put up the wire fencing. I much prefer Aghia Sofia, it has a more relaxing feel to it.
Talking of pics from CCM, is that board with the stills from the film still on display on the harbour front at Sami?

John yes a couple of years ago it wasn't in a bad state, but it's the mental work thats gone now, it's almost rotten thru and badly twisted in places.

The prefabs at the back of the beach, don't look quite as bad now, a little bit more weathered and the surrounding areas a little more natural
