"Poor" and "street kiosks" in the same sentence!?!

Actually I got a receipt from the kiosk in Poros last week. It took about 20 minutes for the poor woman to produce it as she didn't know how to use the till!

I think people should remember that the Greeks do have to take some responsibility for the mess they are in!! They thought joining the EU was going to solve all their problems with the 'handouts' They have realised there is no such thing as a 'free lunch'.
They do not pay their taxes, they fiddle whereever possible!!!! granted they may have feel they have a 'right' to do this. They should then have voted for a different regime not the Karamalis or Papandreou famillies as they have done for many many years !!! whatever politcal colour they are. They consider the 'brown envelope' philosophy without question. No Greek would go to hospital without giving the surgeon/physician a back hander!! They think they will get better treatment. doubt we would do that in the UK!!!
So don't feel too sorry for the Greeks they have brought this mess on themselves to a large part!!

Argo, in principle agree with your sentiment over the Greek people however numerous governments have turned a blind eye to the non paying of taxes, back handers ,illegal building, un-authorised foreign workers etc. etc.
So it can be seen as "very rich" in my opinion when the government who by turning a blind eye for all these years because it suited them! and somewhere along the line were taking a cut from all these illegal practices to be all of a sudden acting whiter than white and pushing all the blame onto the general population.

The problem is that the general population continued voting for these crooks because they thought one day they would be in a position to get a piece of the action - which is why they never seem to begrudge anything anyone else gets on the fiddle.

Greeks seem to dream of the day when they make the right connection and then . . . whoopee!
Whereas Brits dream of the day when the Lottery spits out their numbers.
