    Default Advance Passenger Information

This hasn't been widely publicised, but anyone flying to EU countries (+ several others) will need to complete an API form. The information required is basically passport number, expiry date, country of issue and nationality.

The forms should be completed between 3 months and 7 days before travel. I am travelling to Kef in May on a Thos Cook package and I have just provided the information through this link:

    http://www.thomascook.com/travel-inf...eforeyoutravel

I am sure Thomson, Olympic etc will have similar arrangements. The website seems to suggest that the info can be provided at check-in, but it will probably save any delays/red tape etc if they are completed beforehand.

I had to fill in the same sort of form before i could go on my cruise. As well as the information stated above,i also had to supply my insurance details, insurance company and policy number and also the name of the company who would take care of any medical bills (and get me home) should the need arise.
If any of the information required was not supplied prior to arriving at my destination i would have been refused entry to the country and denied boarding to my ship!
I am not sure if the requirements are going to be as strict with regard to the EU but be warned......just in case!

Why do the government and tour companies keep these sort of things to themselves? It's ridiculous. Can you imagine the queues at check in because there will be loads of people who don't know about this.

I've checked on Olympic Holidays' site - who we are going with - and can find no information about this. Will drop Customer Services an email to get their comments on this and post back any of their comments.

Bell - we are not really jealous you've 11 days to go..... well not much!! How is the packing etc. going? Does Mika travel well? No doubt we'll post to you before you and wish you all a good and safe journey - so enjoy the packing until then!

Thanks Gareth. Got all the essentials packed. Plus new curtain rails and a new microwave. Mika is a very good traveller, she sits in the car like lady muck. Got the roofers in at the moment getting the leak fixed before we leave. And still haven't got the car back after the accident, nearly a month now. Good job I've got a courtesy car.

Heard back very promptly from Olympic Holidays - have always had such excellent responses when we've had questions over the years and they say "Our Reservations department are currently only taking API information for passengers that have booked Easyjet third party flights. If this policy does change, you will be contacted."
So not going to bother about it unless we hear....

Bell - are you hoping to get your car back before you leave or are the insurance company allowing you to take their car with you until nearly the end of the year?

Gareth should get it back tomorrow or Thursday. Don't think they will let me keep the brand new Land Rover that they have lent me.

Just done the API on the Thomas Cook Web site for our return journey, ( thanks Phil ) I also had a look on the Olympic site in case it was required for our out flight, no sign of any mention of API.
Not surprised, we only found out they had changed our flights times by accident.
Like Bell just 14 days to go. Got a few small jobs to do and then I fancy a trip around the Pelopennese for a week or so.

    Hear how it goes

    What a nice thought!
I used to have a job that required me to take trips around the Peloponnese. Those were the days . . . sigh. . .
