    Default Kastro

I'm surprised nobody has done a review before about the Kastro.

It is situated just below St Georges Castle at Kastro. There are excellent views from here. All the tables are outside in lovely terraced gardens. The owners (Greek husband, English wife - I have a terrible memory for names!) are very welcoming and friendly.

The taverna closes fairly early in the evening (well it does when we go in May and October). But this is an ideal pit stop for lunch or afternoon/early evening.

The cakes and sweets are legendary and I can also recommend Greek Ploughman and prawn bagette

Try to avoid calling here when the coach tours arrive!

we always go to Kastro for our first lunch.
This year we also went for an evening meal it was great to watch the sun go down then to eat , as we couldnt decide what to have spiros bought us crisps and nuts and said no hurry . The food is excellent cooked fresh and spiros is very entertaining he never stops talking, nothing to much trouble and everyone welcomed. The best is in the day when you sit down fresh iced water brought to you and topped up as you drink.
Also they have such beautiful pots of flowers all around the taverna.

Have been to the Kastro many times and always have a warm welcome from Nikki, Spiros and Ros and also Spiros' mum who tands all the flowers. It is a place that you never want to leave. We sit there for hours some days. Nikki makes all the dessetrs herself. Glad you enjoyed your prawn bagette Phil.

Agree completely with all the above.
A wonderful spot with fabulous views. The flowers are spectacular and the welcome and food were great.
Our first visit there was accompanied by some other board members, who had recommended it, which made it a really sociable experience.
We'll definitely be going back in May next year.
