I haven't stayed there or been in any rooms, but I have heard comments that the rooms are small and a bit *tired* - it was the first hotel on the beach road!

The Makis Hotel next door is modern and with good facilities. Both are in the Thomson brochure and package holiday prices are similar for both. There may be other members who have first hand experience.

I think the breakfasts will almost certainly be rather basic continental type at the Tara as most Greek Hotels are. I stayed once at the Makis when it was on Kosmar's books. Breakfasts then were better than most places.

Tara Beach was the first hotel to open up along the Poros road in 1986 - I think. It was added to a couple of years later and then, even later, got a pool.

Therefore I think you may be able to see some of the problems with it. It is old, even though it has been re-furbed several times. The rooms are small, as they all were in the 80's.

The Nine Muses is American owned, therefore has larger rooms with showers in the bathrooms that work to the standard an American would demand. The rooms are laid out in a village feel and there are two, decent sized pools. The resturant out front (Aeloas) is owned by my good friend Chris, who married Angela, whose brother Gerry is my oldest Skala friend, the Nine Muses is owned by the family including Gerry's uncle from Long Island. They also own the Aeolas Beach Hotel (Chris & Angela) and are currently building a new hotel and spa resort just past the Aeolas Hotel next to the Acropolis Village, where DD lives. Gerry's dad used to own the Flamingo with his uncle (Burt Reynolds) until the nine Muses opened.

Here is a picture from 1987, the Tara Beach is by the signpost.

Wow your not a name dropper are you?

Chris who married Angela? and her brother Gerry? Gerry's dad, DD and last but not least Bert Reynolds

I actually know Bert, he gave us free bottle of champers on our last visit with our newborn, did you know the fat man from the pines is wanting to buy La Luna?

Is *Burt Reynolds* still at the Flamingo? We never saw him last May. I really missed his friendly banter, even though he doesn't speak much English. I always thought of him as a model example of how to entice in the punters without being pushy.

Yes, 'Burt' is still the owner of Flamingo but one of the reasons you may not see him so much, is that he is the President/Mayor of the village. With the state of the roads then and even more now, I suspect he may be illusive again this year!!!

    Enjoy your holiday Leon.

Thanks for that snippet of info. We did see him last October but he wasn't on the till or *out front* - now I know why
At least the Flamingo is one of the first to have fresh new tarmac outside!

By the way, welcome to the board KittyKat.
