Thumbs up First time in skala and not the last

Thanks for all the info before our hol in skala, it was fantastic the best holiday we have ever had, met wonderful like minded people on the plane who stayed at the marietta and had a ball. The local people were fab so friendly and helpful.
I fell in love with my husband again!!!!! very special place.
We went self catering and took a few things with us, which helped, but 5 litre of wine 7 50 euro, had to kick it in the fridge, the marrietta great even had humping tortoises.
Still feel relaxed a week later even if we did come back to find my husband is redundant.
Kefalonia is wrapped in angels wings.

Glad you enjoyed Skala - we stayed there our first time and fell in love with Kefalonia - the people, scenery and had such a relaxing time. We still have relaxing times when we go, still in love with the place and each other too!

Sorry to hear about your husband's job. Hope something gets sorted out soon.

I knew you would enjoy it Molly
I'm sorry to hear about your husband's job - things seem to be bad everywhere at the moment I hope things look up soon and you can enjoy another holiday in Kef.

I think we were on the same Thos Cook flights as you. I did notice a few people with luggage labels for the Marrietta - we were near the front of the plane both ways!!

Any feedback about your holiday will be most welcome - that is how we all learn about the island!!

    Best wishes
    Phil

Hi Molly sorry to hear about your husband's job. But glad that you had a great time. I knew you would like Marietta as we stayed there the first time that we came to Kefalonia in 2001.

    Hi Molly

Glad you had a great time on your first visit to Kef. Sorry to hear about your husband being made redundant, I know how you must be feeling as we were in same boat a couple of months ago. We were one of the lucky ones in that he was only out of work a couple of weeks so fingers crossed that your husband is as fortunate.

Hi Molly like the others very sorry to hear the bad news on the job front but very pleased you enjoyed your holiday so much. Kefalonia really should come with a health warning because once you’ve had your first taste you have to have another one.

    Hear how it goes

Didnt have cornflakes, but plenty of ham and cheese sandwiches the first week as we tried walking to poros!!!!! Penelope boat bar was just the job for a few cold pints on the way back as we never made it, found 2 lovely small coves We were on the top floor of the marietta 62 steps!!!
Phil we were on the wing of the plane going and coming back, different people go to kef than anywere else, other places we have been have never been a friendly flight like that one, is it always like that?
We found out it would have been cheeper getting the bus to Agastolli than the coach trip and you get to see more of kef.

I hadn't really thought about it before, but you are right about people flying to Kef. There never seems to be the pushing, shoving and queue jumping that you get on flights to other destinations. Maybe it is because most of the passengers are seasoned travellers to Kef and are feeling relaxed and laid-back before they leave home - and in less of a hurry to depart when they have to leave for home?

On the return flight I had a conversation with one of JJ's friends sat in the next seat - small world!

I assume you didn't hire a car? Next time you go I can thoroughly recommend a few days car or jeep hire. The trouble with the local buses is the timetable is very sparse, a lot of buses are at the wrong time of day for a decent day out and the service can be cancelled without notice......
