    Default Ta Pitharia

    Had this from some friends.

The spit over charcoal is back!

We went to Ta Pitharia last night and we had Kontasouvli (Pork on the Spit)….to die for!
The Tavernas’s had a couple of “iffy” years but we were talking to Mary last night & she’s putting her all into it this year.

She said she wanted to be more Traditional again so had the Charcoal Spit put back……….Pork will be on every night & they had Chickens on as well last night.

Nice menu & good prices & smashing wine.

It’s nice to see a Taverna being “Traditional” again as opposed to “Up-Market”

Can't wait to try it, 27 days and counting!

I always liked the food here but what was always the downside for me was the way you are rushed through, especially because of the queues of people waiting to get in!
I will NEVER queue to get into a restaurant especially when there are so many good ones around.
The couple of times i ate in Ta Pitharia i felt really uncomfortable. We hardly had sat down and been given the menu when we were asked for our order. Everything arrived very quickly and the bill was on the table before i had even asked for it!
I like to relax with a drink after my meal but this place wasn't having any of it. I got the impression that they wanted me out..........and quick!
Yes, the food was good, but in my opinion there are much better places to eat in Skala.............and you don't have to queue!

hi. we went to ta pitharia 2 years ago but gave it a miss last year as we had our daughter and grandson with us. we ate at pines , flamingo , scandanavia ,and at paspalis where we stayed. we found our previous favourite nine muses a bit disappointing.
are there any others we ought to be trying. we are going in 4 weeks time

I think all the tavernas and restaurants will have to try harder this year with customer service and value for money. We noticed tourist numbers were down considerably this month.

I'll post a few reviews soon. We only ate once in Skala so I can't really compare prices there. In Katelios the best tavernas are providing good food at very reasonable prices with some excellent daily specials. Also, many are going back to the old tradition of bringing free coffee or liquor with the bill.

The Ta Pitharia was deserted when we walked past!

One restaurant i would suggest you try is the Galera (beside the police station) We have never had a bad meal in there.
