• Aghia Efima

A small town which is only recently coming to the attention of the tour operators. It has a lovely harbour and is a very popular stop off point for the "yachties". whole flotillas often berth here overnight and as a result the harbour front tavernas can be very busy.
There are great views across to Ithaca from Aghia Efima and lots of small coves can be found very close to the resort where you can sunbathe........you could well find you are the only one on the beach you find! The beach in Aghia Efima itself is very small and pebbly so unless you want to venture out you may well end up sunbathing by a hotel pool. There are a good selection of shops and tavernas in Aghia Efima and most of the accomodation seems to be within a 10 minute walk of the centre.
As a base for exploring the island, Aghia Efima is excellent as it is in a good central location. As for the type of holiday it would provide, i would say it would appeal to couples looking for a relaxing holiday and people who want a quiet base but who want to get out and about to explore the island. For families with active children or teenagers, i would strongly recommend Lassi or Skala as there would be more to occupy them in those resorts. 8-)

Happy New Year to everyone,Agia Efimia is a beautiful village as you said John not know for its sandy beaches but their are plenty to reach with transport. It is easy to access all parts of Kephalonia and the landscape is particularly beautiful. I would agree that it is maybe not the place for those seeking nightlife but the Tavernas are excellent and compared to the south of the island much more reasonable in price. Once a regular you tend to pay village prices. Accomodation especially for larger groups holidaying together is of a very high standard and if you book through the owners not their agents good value too. You will always get a better deal that way and aviod paying their mark up.Do a little spade work you will get the holiday you wantThe welcome you will recieve from the Greek villagers is truely wonderful .So if your looking for a change and want a slower pace of life give Agia Efimia a try I cant think of anywhere Id rather stay but then we all have our special place on KephaloniaRegards Louise
